My history in English Setters:I got my first English Setter in 1982 from Kay Monahan of Kadon English Setters. Although I did not show her, owning her piqued my interst in the sport of conformation showing. I purchased my second English Setter from Lo Wolfson of Mahogany English Setters. I intended to give this activity a try, but things didn't work out for my at that point in time. It wasn't until 2000 when I was able to purchase my third English Setter that I launched what was to become my new hobby.

ESAA: I have been a member of the English Setter Association of America since 1995. I recommend membership in this organization for all lovers of this sweet and gentle breed. The ESAA hosts a National Specilty show each fall which includes all kinds of activities for our breed: hunt test, agility, rally, obedience, and conformation showing. It is attended by English Setters from all over the United States and Canada, as well as a few ES from all over the world.

BESC: I have been a very active member of the Brandywine English Setter Club since 1995, and have served as President and Vice President. We have members from all over the MidAtlantic region, including all of Pennsylvania, as well as a few members from New Jersey, Maryland and Virgina. We host two regional Specialty shows each year  in conjunction with the Nita-Nee Kennel Club, usually the third weekend in July at the Grange Fair grounds in Centre Hall, PA near State College. This show is a great opportunity for those in central PA to see some wonderful English Setters, and get some information about our breed.

Breeding: I bred my first litter of English Setters in 2004, along with co-breeders Dick Fox (Foxtract English Setters) and Julie Quirk (PB&J English Setters). It was a very challenging and eye-opening experience! I was much more prepared for the second litter, co-bred with Julie in 2007. Thanks to Pam Houck, who owns one of the puppies from that litter, for suggesting the obstacles to stimulate and challenge the puppies through their first 8 weeks. The cat tunnel is, without a doubt, the favorite of each littler, I was the solo breeder for another litter of wonderful puppies in 2009, followed by co-breeding a litter and 2013, solo breeding in 2014, and breeding another litter in 2019. I limit my breeding to every few years when I am ready to add a new member to my family.
